DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Continental mvt with Pouzait lever escapement, seconds-beating sweep seconds, time, day and date subsidiary dials, 55mm, almost ideally cased in silver OF hinged bezel snap-back display case with Turkish market bow style, needing only front ring insert for ideal fit, KWKS, WED, Pouzait lever escapement with upright pins on escape wheel captured and released by curved steel pallets, similar to pin-wheel escapement of S D French, gilt mvt signed "Berthoud," without visible number. Typically found in display cases, this escapement has giant 41mm five-spar balance nearly covering the entire mvt, beating in seconds and replicating dead-beating action in regulators. The going barrel mvt is wound anticlockwise through the dial. It is very rare to find a Pouzait lever with additional dial complications. Gross weight of assembled watch 55.8 dwt (86.8 g).

Mvt: GRO, near mint mvt condition overall, escapement currently out of beat but performing well; dial perfect; hands mint; case shows little wear, medium tarnish, few MFS, no dents or dings, complete knurled detail; bow pivots at the touch; good glass crystals.
